Seventy-nine percent of adults over the age of 55 take dietary supplements with the goal of improving health. How can health professionals help clients and consumers wade through the sea of supplements and their myriad claims for healthy aging and increased longevity?

On Wednesday, June 10, 2020, from 2–3 PM EDT, Dr. Christine Rosenbloom, PhD, RDN, LD, FAND, will deliver a webinar focusing on dietary supplement use in older adults. Dr. Rosenbloom will dive into the research that supports (or refutes) supplements’ claims, and discuss the potential interactions with prescription and over-the-counter medicines that are taken concurrently with supplements. She will also cover supplement forms, dosage, and deliver a risk/benefit evaluation which will arm dietetics professionals with pertinent information on the most popular supplements, including multivitamins, vitamin D, magnesium, fish oil, tumeric, CoQ10, and probiotics. Finally, Dr. Rosenbloom will review case studies and provide evidence-based resources that will help expand attendees’ knowledge of proper supplement use.

About Our Presenter
Dr. Rosenbloom is president of Chris Rosenbloom Food and Nutrition Services, LLC, and nutrition professor emerita at Georgia State University. She is the co-author with Dr. Bob Murray of the consumer book, “Food & Fitness After 50.”

Dr. Rosenbloom held various teaching and administrative positions, including department chair and associate dean. She was the sports dietitian for the Georgia Tech Athletic Association and for the Georgia State athletes. She is the editor-in-chief of two editions of “Sports Nutrition: A Practice Manual for Professionals,” and served as assistant editor for the 6th edition released in 2017. As an active member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Chris received the Medallion Award in 2019 for lifetime achievement in the profession. She received her undergraduate degree from Kent State University and completed her dietetic internship at the University of Minnesota; her doctorate was earned in sociology with a gerontology concentration from Georgia State University.
